Guide
What is Riftbound?
Riftbound is the League of Legends trading card game from Riot Games. You pick a champion, build a deck around them and fight to control battlefields. Here’s how it works and how to get started in Australia.
The basics
How a Riftbound deck works
Every deck is led by a Legend, a version of a League champion with its own ability, and includes that champion as your Chosen Champion. You play units, spells and gear to win fights over battlefields and score points.
Legend and Chosen Champion. Your Legend sets your deck’s domains (colours) and plan. Your Chosen Champion is a unit version of the same champion.
Main deck. A 40-card main deck of units, spells and gear from your Legend’s domains.
Rune deck. A separate 12-card rune deck that powers what you play. Runes are the basics of Riftbound.
Battlefields. Each player brings battlefields. Conquering and holding them scores points.
The six domains
Cards belong to domains: Fury, Calm, Mind, Body, Chaos and Order. Legends use two, which decides which cards and runes your deck can play.
The sets so far
Origins was the first set, followed by Spiritforged, Unleashed, Vendetta and Radiance, plus the Proving Grounds starter release. Each set page has the full card list and what we have in stock.
Getting started
Three ways in
- 01
Pick a champion you like
Look through the legends and pick a champion you enjoy. You’ll play it a lot.
- 02
Start with a Champion Deck
Preconstructed Champion Decks are ready to play out of the box and are the easiest way to learn.
- 03
Upgrade with singles
Buy the specific cards your deck needs rather than opening packs. Paste your list into Deck Check to see the total in AUD.
Riftbound in Australia
TCGplayer Direct doesn’t carry Riftbound, so local stores are the easy way to get singles here. We stock Riftbound singles with scans of the exact copy, priced in AUD and posted the next business day.
Questions
Riftbound questions
Who makes Riftbound?
Riot Games, the studio behind League of Legends. The cards feature League champions and the world of Runeterra.
Do I need to know League of Legends to play Riftbound?
No. Knowing the champions helps you recognise them, but the card game stands on its own.
What is the best way to start Riftbound?
A Champion Deck. It’s a complete, ready-to-play deck that teaches you the game, and you can upgrade it with singles later.
Where can I buy Riftbound singles in Australia?
From Australian stores like ours. Riftbound isn’t on TCGplayer Direct, so buying locally avoids international shipping.
