What a good upgrade does
Fixes the mana first
Untapped lands and cheap ramp make every game smoother. Most precons are weakest here.
Sharpens the plan
Cards that do the commander’s job better replace the filler that came in the box.
Stays in budget
A kit lifts a precon from casual toward bracket 3 without chasing the most expensive staples.
Questions
Good to know
What’s in a precon upgrade kit?
10 to 15 singles chosen to fix one named precon’s weak spots, a list of which cards to cut for each, and nothing you don’t need. Every card is graded and sleeved.
When will my kit be ready?
We build kits for the precons people ask about first. Tell us yours on this page and we’ll email you when it’s ready, once, with no newsletter.
What should I cut and upgrade first?
Start with the lands and mana: swap tapped lands for untapped ones and add cheap ramp. Then cut the cards that don’t help the commander’s plan. Our upgrade kits come with a cut list, and Deck Check prices any upgrade we have in stock.
What bracket are precons?
Most precons sit around bracket 2, a casual power level, out of the box. A few upgrades lift a deck into bracket 3; that’s what our kits aim for.
