Got a precon already?
Upgrade it card by card. Paste the list into Deck Check and we’ll price every upgrade we have in stock, or ask for a kit with a cut list.
Which precon should I buy?
Go wide
Token and go-wide decks fill the board with small creatures and pump them. Easy to play, and they get better with every anthem effect you add.
Big creatures
Ramp into large threats and attack. A good first deck: the plan is clear and the games are fun to watch.
Spells and tricks
Instants, sorceries and card draw. Rewarding once you know the rules, but harder for a first deck.
What players rate
On r/EDH, World Shaper and Explorers of the Deep come up most as strong out of the box. Blight Curse is a favourite, but players warn it’s not one for a beginner.
Questions
Good to know
Which precon should I buy to play out of the box?
Pick by how you like to play, not by price: go wide with tokens, attack with big creatures, or combo off with spells. Every precon page shows its commander, colours and full list so you can see the plan before you buy. On r/EDH, World Shaper and Explorers of the Deep come up most often as strong out of the box.
Which precon is good for a beginner?
One with a single clear plan and a commander that does one thing well. Some of the strongest decks are the hardest to pilot: players say Blight Curse is a favourite but not one to hand a new player.
What should I cut and upgrade first?
Start with the lands and mana: swap tapped lands for untapped ones and add cheap ramp. Then cut the cards that don’t help the commander’s plan. Our upgrade kits come with a cut list, and Deck Check prices any upgrade we have in stock.
Why is an older precon so expensive?
Once a precon is out of print, the sealed decks left get scarcer and the price follows. Often the singles cost less than the sealed deck: check the list on its page and price the cards you want in Deck Check.
What bracket are precons?
Most precons sit around bracket 2, a casual power level, out of the box. A few upgrades lift a deck into bracket 3; that’s what our kits aim for.
How much is postage if I only want a couple of cards?
$2.50 untracked letter post for a few singles under 5mm thick. Tracked is $9.95 and required on orders over $50, and orders over $75 ship tracked for free. Every card goes in a penny sleeve and toploader, never several cards jammed into one.
