Toploaders in plain words
Penny sleeve first
A card goes into a penny sleeve, then into the toploader. Straight into a toploader, the corners catch and scuff.
Points mean thickness
The “pt” number is how thick a card the toploader takes, not how thick the plastic is. 35pt suits almost every Pokémon, MTG and Riftbound card.

Questions
Good to know
What size toploader do I need?
A 35pt, 3″ × 4″ toploader fits a standard card in a penny sleeve. Thick foils and textured cards may need 55pt, and relic or patch cards need 130pt or more.
Are all penny sleeves and toploaders the same?
Close, but not quite. Penny sleeves vary in clarity and how snugly they fit. Toploaders come in thicknesses: 35pt holds a standard card in a penny sleeve, and thick or relic cards need 55pt or more.
Penny sleeve and toploader, or a toploader binder?
For a single card you’re posting or putting away, it’s a penny sleeve first, then a toploader. For a set of good cards you want to look at, a toploader binder holds them rigid without a pile of toploaders in a box.
